Sam Houston skates past Highlands with ease

Recap: Sam Houston Hurricanes vs. Highlands Owls

The Sam Houston Hurricanes came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Highlands at home to the tune of 55-7. Considering Sam Houston has won three contests by more than 41 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sam Houston had a senior duo take command as Jaeden Servantez rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries and Jeremiah Espitia gained 92 total yards and two touchdowns. Espitia's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Calhoun, who threw for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

Sam Houston's victory was their third straight at home , which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.7 points per game. As for Highlands, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Sam Houston will head out on the road to face off against Alamo Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alamo Heights has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 484 points over their last eight matches. As for Highlands, they will be playing at home against Brackenridge on Friday. Brackenridge is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
