Basketball Game Preview: Hernando Tigers vs. Oxford Chargers

Hernando hasn't had much luck against Oxford recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hernando Tigers will face off against the Oxford Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hernando is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They fell 54-44 to New Albany. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 56th).

Meanwhile, Oxford also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Albertville by a score of 69-62.

Oxford has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Hernando, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Hernando took a serious blow against Oxford in their previous meeting back in January, falling 85-53. Can Hernando avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
