Recap: Cicero Prep Academy Centurions vs. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy Gladiators
The Cicero Prep Academy Centurions's five-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They came out on top against North Phoenix Preparatory Academy by a score of 28-17. That looming 28-17 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Cicero Prep Academy yet this season.
Madison Washburn was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 17 points along with five steals and five blocks. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Maggie Hooppaw, who scored five points along with seven steals and two blocks.
Several Gladiators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellaina Wakeham, who scored three points along with 18 rebounds and four blocks. Wakeham is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Sabrina Daniel was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, North Phoenix Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cicero Prep Academy's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-10.
Cicero Prep Academy will head out on the road to face off against Valley Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Valley Lutheran is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for North Phoenix Preparatory Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against San Pasqual Valley at 3:30 p.m. San Pasqual Valley is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
