The Jefferson Bulldogs will take on the Chapel Hill Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Jefferson's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Chapel Hill has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Jefferson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Daingerfield on Saturday as Jefferson made off with an 18-8 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won seven in a row.
Chloe Wood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Amariuanna Amie was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddie Cooner, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, Chapel Hill fell victim to Harmony and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 12-0.
The victory got Jefferson back to even at 9-9. As for Chapel Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Chapel Hill's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jefferson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. It's a different story for Chapel Hill, though, as they've only averaged .336. Will they be able to contain Jefferson's hitters?
Jefferson was able to grind out a solid win over Chapel Hill in their previous matchup on March 14th, winning 5-1. Will Jefferson repeat their success, or does Chapel Hill has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
