Basketball Recap: Zach Benner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Highlands Ranch over Arapahoe

Highlands Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 75-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arapahoe Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Warriors are ranked 13th).

Highlands Ranch lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zach Benner, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Benner a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Lane, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds.

Arapahoe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Pramenko out in front who went 7 of 11 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Wesley Foa was another key player, putting up 17 points and six rebounds.

Highlands Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Arapahoe, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Highlands Ranch will challenge Vista Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Vista Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season. As for Arapahoe, they will face off against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Arapahoe's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
