Baseball Recap: Frontier Gets the Win

Frontier came out on top against Highland on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Titans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Scots 9-7. This was a revenge game for the Titans: when they faced off against the Scots on Monday, they had to take a 11-8 loss.

Mac Corpas tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since April 2nd.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaylen Tia, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Frontier's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 5-1 (and 8-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of TJ Archuleta, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Frontier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Frontier's win bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Highland, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.

Frontier will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Scots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
