Newaygo and Grant are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newaygo is looking for their season's first victory.

On Friday, Newaygo had to suffer through a 58-19 loss at the hands of Tri County Area. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 356th, while the Vikings are ranked 166th).

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Grant and Chippewa Hills, and Chippewa Hills kept the tradition alive. The Tigers came up short against the Warriors on Friday, falling 34-13.

Newaygo's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Grant, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Newaygo against Grant when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 40-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
