Football Game Preview: Eldred Yellowjackets vs. Tri-Valley Bears

Eldred is 0-8 against Tri-Valley since September of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Eldred is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Catkill/Cairo-Durham 42-12 on Friday. The Yellowjackets' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Eldred had a senior duo take command as Koen McGill rushed for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries and James Deyermond gained 155 total yards and three touchdowns. McGill is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 136 every time he's taken the field this season. Connor Ranaudo got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Eldred didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Trai Kaufmann, McGill, and Mason Tice picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Tri-Valley never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over Fallsburg. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The win made it two in a row for Eldred and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 12 points in those games. As for Tri-Valley, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Eldred couldn't quite get it done against Tri-Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 16-8. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
