Football Game Preview: Wilmington Friends Quakers vs. Howard Wildcats

The Wilmington Friends Quakers are taking a road trip to square off against the Howard Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wilmington Friends will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up six points on October 4th, then bounced right back against Mount Pleasant on Saturday. The Quakers' defense stepped up to hand the Green Knights a 40-0 shutout. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Quakers just coasted through the last quarter.

Meanwhile, Howard strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past Tower Hill to the tune of 50-14. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Delaware football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Hillers are ranked 31st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory got Wilmington Friends back to even at 3-3. As for Howard, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Wilmington Friends took a serious blow against Howard when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 48-14. Thankfully for the Quakers, Xavier Grier (who rushed for 120 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
