Basketball Recap: Hanna Takes a Loss

Hanna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Weslaco East Wildcats, falling 40-14. If the Golden Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 35-24 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Weslaco East's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Angel Nwanne, who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Nwanne is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Destinie Morales, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Hanna's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Weslaco East, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Hanna has already played their next game, a 32-13 victory against Donna North on the 14th. As for Weslaco East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-35 win against Santa Gertrudis Academy on the 14th.
