Volleyball Recap: Arrowhead Falls Short Against Ranked Appleton North

Arrowhead faced Appleton North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Warhawks took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lightning. The Warhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lightning apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

While Arrowhead was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22.

Their offense was headlined by Aidan Baumann and Joey Davies, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from William Cornell and his nine assists. Finally, Hayden Grunzel and Jack Dennis kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

Arrowhead moved to 13-10 with that loss, which also ended their four-match winning streak. As for Appleton North, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Arrowhead will host Oak Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Appleton North, they have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Germantown on the 27th.
