Devine has won four straight games at home, while Antonian Prep has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Warhorses will welcome the Apaches at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Devine made easy work of Pleasanton and carried off an 8-2 win.
Tucker Traylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Maddy Hester was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Yaya Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Antonian Prep got the win against TMI-Episcopal on Friday by a conclusive 18-2. The Apaches haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Analisa Guerrero was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Antonian Prep got a massive performance out of Arianna Medina, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Medina a new career-high. Isabella Garza was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
Antonian Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in ten consecutive matchups.
Devine is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Antonian Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 21-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Devine hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. However, it's not like Antonian Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Devine couldn't quite get it done against Antonian Prep in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Will the Warhorses have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
