Baseball Recap: Seymour Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Seymour hadn't done well against Floyd Central recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Owls were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Highlanders. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Owls considering their two-run performance the match before.

Mikey Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Trueblood, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Brady Harpe, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Seymour, bringing their record up to 13-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Floyd Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Seymour will venture away from home to challenge Providence at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Owls are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Floyd Central, they will square off against Charlestown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Highlanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
