Preview: Hendrick Hudson Sailors vs. Sleepy Hollow Horsemen
Hendrick Hudson is 8-0 against Sleepy Hollow since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Hendrick Hudson Sailors will head out on the road to take on the Sleepy Hollow Horsemen at 4:30 p.m. Hopefully Hendrick Hudson is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sleepy Hollow in New York (Hendrick Hudson is ranked 109th, while Sleepy Hollow is ranked 542nd).
Hendrick Hudson pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Ossining at home by a decisive 72-58 margin. It was the first time this season that Hendrick Hudson let down their fans at home.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Alexa Robinson, who scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Stratton, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sleepy Hollow's recent rough patch got a bit rougher two weeks ago after their third straight loss. They fell 41-33 to Bronxville.
Hendrick Hudson's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-7. As for Sleepy Hollow, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for Hendrick Hudson against Sleepy Hollow in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 59-23 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hendrick Hudson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
