Softball Preview: Spartanburg Vikings vs. Blacksburg Wildcats
Spartanburg and Blacksburg are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Spartanburg Vikings will host the Blacksburg Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Spartanburg is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
While Spartanburg's victory against Wade Hampton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Spartanburg won by a run and slipped past Wade Hampton 8-7. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Sydney Anderson made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Carlee Richards was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Tori Earle was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4.
