Softball Game Preview: Owen J. Roberts Wildcats vs. Avon Grove Red Devils

The Owen J. Roberts Wildcats will head out to square off against the Avon Grove Red Devils at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Owen J. Roberts is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Owen J. Roberts is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Pennsylvania's top teams: Perkiomen Valley, who was ranked 11th at the time (Owen J. Roberts was ranked 23rd). The Wildcats fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Maddie Reed put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple.

Reed wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Atkins, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Avon Grove waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Red Raiders by a score of 6-1.

Avon Grove's victory bumped their record up to 14-2. As for Owen J. Roberts, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.
