Football Game Preview: Seymour Wildcats vs. Wilby Wildcats

Seymour will venture away from home to square off against Wilby at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Seymour will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, a win is a win, as they say, even a pretty close 7-3 win over Oxford.

Connor Shea had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 175 yards. Shea is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 105 every time he's taken the field this season.

Seymour's run defense was locked in: Oxford could only muster 1.7 yards per carry. While one picked up at least four total tackles, Shea stood above the rest. He rushed for 175 yards. Seymour's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.4.

Seymour didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jack Moir and Ronan Carboni.

Meanwhile, Wilby ended up a good deal behind St. Paul Catholic on Thursday and lost 38-22. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wilby now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Seymour, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Everything came up roses for Seymour against Wilby in their previous matchup back in September of 2021, as the team secured a 56-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seymour since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
