Softball Recap: Casa Grande Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

Casa Grande never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Vista Grande on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Cougars have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

MacKayla Wallace made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Wallace was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Casa Grande got a massive performance out of Trinity Diaz, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and one double while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave Diaz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Vance, who fired off two home runs and one double while going 3-for-5.

Casa Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vista Grande only posted a batting average of .250.

Casa Grande has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Vista Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Casa Grande beat the Spartans by a score of 4-3 on Thursday.
