Softball Recap: Catawba Ridge Continues Road Dominance on Monday

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Catawba Ridge ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the South Florence Bruins. The Copperheads haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Catawba Ridge pushed their record up to 21-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.6 runs thus far. As for South Florence, they moved to 17-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Catawba Ridge will host Rock Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.78 runs per game on average), something the Copperheads will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Florence, they are taking a road trip to take on Blythewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bengals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Bruins' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
