Baseball Recap: Hoopa Valley Warriors vs. St. Bernard's Crusaders
Hoopa Valley extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 12-10 in the process. They lost 8-1 to the St. Bernard's Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-0 loss back in April.
Allen Kane put in work no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Kane wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Barret Myers, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for St. Bernard's, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.
On St. Bernard's side, they let Mateo Reiman and Luke Brunton run wild. Reiman went 1-for-3 with three RBI, while Brunton went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Reiman a new career-high. Quentin Ikeya also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
While Hoopa Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
