Wheeling hadn't done well against Rolling Meadows recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Monday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of  7-2. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Mustangs  back in April, they had to take a  13-4  defeat.
 Ava Shrake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned runs on three hits.
 On the hitting side,  Alaina Costello was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with two  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  stolen bases  she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Katie Moser, who  went 2-for-4 with two  doubles and two  RBI.
 Wheeling  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  strikeout total in three consecutive  contests.
Wheeling's record now sits at 8-15. As for Rolling Meadows, they have  been struggling recently as they've  lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-20 record  this season.
 Wheeling and Rolling Meadows are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildcats will welcome Waukegan  at 11:00  a.m.  on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.1  runs per game on average), something Wheeling will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rolling Meadows, they will square off against Glenbrook South at 4:45  p.m.  on Friday.
