Softball Game Preview: Niles West Wolves vs. Vernon Hills Cougars

The Niles West Wolves will venture away from home to face off against the Vernon Hills Cougars at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Niles West is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Maine West on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to the Warriors. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.

Niles West saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Park, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Vernon Hills never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Maine East.

Niles West's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Vernon Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 9-19.

Niles West couldn't quite finish off Vernon Hills in their previous matchup two weeks ago and fell 5-3. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
