Recap: Okeene Whippets vs. Turpin Cardinals
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Okeene Whippets can now relate to. Their rough 57-34 loss to the Cardinals on Friday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Okeene can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Turpin is ranked 159th).
It was another big night for Carson Peters, who scored 14 points for Turpin. Another player making a difference was Jhett Huffman, who scored ten points.
Okeene's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Turpin, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Okeene does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Turpin is on the road again on Thursday and plays Laverne at 2:30 p.m. on February 15th. Laverne will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Turpin surely won't give up without a fight.
