Baseball Recap: Oakmont Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Oakmont waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Center Cougars a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jaylan Patterson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, KC Tibbits was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Ogles, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Oakmont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Center only managed seven hits.

Oakmont pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Oakmont nor Center have any future games scheduled.
