Basketball Game Preview: Lumen Christi Catholic Titans vs. Richard Pioneers

The Lumen Christi Catholic Titans will square off against the Richard Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Lumen Christi Catholic beat Loyola 46-39. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Bull Dogs are ranked 209th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Richard had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Falcons 81-46. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Richard's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Lumen Christi Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-2.

Lumen Christi Catholic suffered a grim 88-65 defeat to Richard in their previous matchup back in January. Can Lumen Christi Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
