Groesbeck and Fairfield are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Groesbeck Goats will challenge the Fairfield Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Groesbeck 3.1, Fairfield 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Groesbeck is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Mexia on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to the Black Cats.

Groesbeck saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ali Pineda, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI. Rafe Samford also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, Fairfield came tearing into Monday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Elks get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Groesbeck's loss dropped their record down to 8-3-1. As for Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Groesbeck might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Fairfield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Groesbeck avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
