Baseball Game Preview: Phoebus Phantoms vs. Heritage Hurricanes

Phoebus is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Heritage a 13-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Phoebus Phantoms will be playing in front of their home fans against the Heritage Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. Phoebus has given up an average of 13.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Phoebus might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-10 to Woodside, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Ryan Brown was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Taylor Barnes was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Heritage came up short against Denbigh on Thursday, falling 19-1.

Heritage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devin Gray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one double. That double was Gray's first of the season.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Phoebus, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Phoebus took their win against Heritage in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4. Will Phoebus repeat their success, or does Heritage has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
