Recap: Layton Lancers vs. Farmington Phoenix
On Friday, the Layton Lancers faced the Farmington Phoenix in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Layton snuck past Farmington with a 81-77 victory. Winning may never get old, but Layton sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Layton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mekhi Martin led the charge by scoring 17 points. Martin hasn't dropped below 15points for seven straight games. KJ Miller was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Layton's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.3 points per game. As for Farmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Layton will take on Weber at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Weber's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 matches. As for Farmington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Davis at 7:00 p.m. Davis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.6 points per game.
