Basketball Recap: Questa Takes a Loss

Questa had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 11-12 to make it five. They lost to the Mesa Vista Trojans on the road by a 56-40 margin. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 69-45 loss back in January.

As for Mesa Vista, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points over those games.

Leading Mesa Vista to victory were Aubrey Maestas and Aaliyah Boies. Maestas posted 12 points and eight steals, while Boies had eight points and eight steals. Boies has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 51 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Sandoval, who earned ten points.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Questa will square off against rival McCurdy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Mesa Vista is set to take on their familiar foe Penasco at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
