Softball Game Preview: Crestview Bulldogs vs. Navarre Raiders

Crestview hasn't had much luck against Navarre recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Crestview Bulldogs will face off against the Navarre Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Navarre took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Crestview, who comes in off a win.

Last Thursday, Crestview beat South Walton 9-6.

Ava Secor was incredible, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Taeia Schriner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Secor wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Crestview lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Navarre's offense. They came up short against Pace on Monday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Crestview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. With the loss, Navarre broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Crestview hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Navarre struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Crestview might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Navarre in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Crestview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
