Cupertino had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They won by a set and slipped past the Leigh Longhorns 3-2. For the Pioneers, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Longhorns walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

While Cupertino might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Leigh scored at least nine points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21, 16-25, 24-26, 15-9.

Miranda Zeng paced Cupertino's offense, picking up 15 kills. Zeng got some help from Sophia Song and her 15 assists. Claire Chien controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Cupertino has already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Mountain View on the 2nd. As for Leigh, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Leland on the 2nd.
