Basketball Game Preview: Westminster Catawba Christian Indians vs. Gaston Day Spartans

Westminster Catawba Christian is 1-9 against Gaston Day since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Westminster Catawba Christian Indians will look to defend their home court against the Gaston Day Spartans at 5:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Westminster Catawba Christian came up short against Metrolina Christian Academy and fell 68-58.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Myana Fore, who posted 20 points in addition to six steals and five assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in December of 2023. Bella Sherer was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.

Fore wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Westminster Catawba Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Gaston Day waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Paladins by a score of 42-30.

Westminster Catawba Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-10. As for Gaston Day, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.

Westminster Catawba Christian strolled past Gaston Day when the teams last played on January 14th by a score of 46-29. Will Westminster Catawba Christian repeat their success, or does Gaston Day have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
