Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Lincoln). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Statesville Greyhounds a 20-0 shutout on Thursday. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.
Brylee Belcher and Kiley Crowe did most of the damage at the plate: Belcher went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Crowe went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Belcher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Haywood, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
East Lincoln has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Statesville, they dropped their record down to 0-19 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
