Basketball Recap: Kara Esterak Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cornerstone Christian

Cornerstone Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Walsh Jesuit proved too difficult a challenge. They secured a 57-52 W over the Cornerstone Christian Patriots. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered an 82-56 loss the last time these two teams met.

Walsh Jesuit got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kara Esterak out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists. Esterak is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kami Digennaro, who posted 14 points and four steals.

Esterak wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Walsh Jesuit was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Walsh Jesuit and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for Cornerstone Christian, they moved to 14-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Walsh Jesuit and Cornerstone Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Walsh Jesuit (ranked 294th) will meet Hawken (ranked 743rd) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Cornerstone Christian will face off against Independence at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday up 246 places (234 vs. 480).
