Softball Recap: Pittston Extends Winning Streak to Two

Pittston came out on top against Dallas on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mountaineers a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Patriots have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Lili Hintze, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikaila Sarf, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Pittston hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The win made it two in a row for Pittston and bumps their season record up to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Dallas, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

As of now, neither Pittston nor the Mountaineers have any future games scheduled.
