Baseball Game Preview: Calumet Christian Patriots vs. La Lumiere Lakers

The Calumet Christian Patriots will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the La Lumiere Lakers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calumet Christian is looking for their season's first victory.

Calumet Christian saw some tournament action on Friday. They came up short against Kankakee Valley, falling 21-2.

Meanwhile, La Lumiere made easy work of South Shore Homeschool Athletics on Thursday and carried off a 7-1 win.

Josh Jaracz and Brady Monaghan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jaracz tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Monaghan kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. At bat, Jaracz scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Monaghan scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave Monaghan a new career-high.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bobby Looney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

The victory got La Lumiere back to even at 1-1. As for Calumet Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Calumet Christian beat La Lumiere 8-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Lakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
