Volleyball Recap: Canyon View Takes a Loss

If Canyon View was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Kellis on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars lost 3-0 to the Willow Canyon Wildcats on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 11th.

While Canyon View ultimately came up short, they really made Willow Canyon work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-12, 26-24, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Canyon View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nikolas Cordova had 13 digs.

Canyon View dropped their record down to 6-18 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Willow Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Canyon View will challenge rival Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Willow Canyon is set to face off against their familiar foe Ironwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
