Baseball Recap: Platteview Triumphs

Platteview hadn't done well against Wahoo/Bishop Neumann recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors a 3-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Michael Quinn looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Platteview is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Platteview saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Riha, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. Dylan Thomas was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Platteview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are 4-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Platteview's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Wahoo/Bishop Neumann, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-9.

Coming up, Platteview will take on Blair at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. Wahoo/Bishop Neumann does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
