Preview: Palo Alto Vikings vs. Seaside Spartans
The Palo Alto Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the Seaside Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palo Alto will be strutting in after a victory while Seaside will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Palo Alto beat King's Academy 34-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Palo Alto.
Joseph Kessler was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Kessler really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Madrigal, who rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
Palo Alto's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anthony Landa mendoza.
Meanwhile, Seaside lost a heartbreaker to Monterey when they met back in September of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Seaside was outmatched by Monterey at home and fell 50-13. Seaside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Palo Alto is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Seaside, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Palo Alto against Seaside in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 34-6 victory. Will Palo Alto repeat their success, or does Seaside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
