Baseball Recap: Del Oro Extends Winning Streak to Four

Del Oro hadn't done well against Roseville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Del Oro Golden Eagles' pitcher stepped up to hand the Roseville Tigers a 9-0 shutout. That nine run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Eagles this season.

Roseville's batters probably weren't too happy with Kael Lumbert, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Lumbert a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Masen Belding was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Maloney, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

The win was the fourth in a row for Del Oro, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Roseville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Del Oro will venture away from home to challenge Pleasant Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Del Oro's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Pleasant Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Roseville, they are taking a road trip to face off against Folsom at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
