Basketball Preview: Bellefontaine Chieftains vs. Kenton Ridge Cougars
Bellefontaine has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Kenton Ridge Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Saturday, Bellefontaine was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-40 to the Pioneers.
The losing side was boosted by Alexza Clifton, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Boop, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Kenton Ridge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Monday after their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 59-25 defeat at the hands of Cedarville. While losing is never fun, Kenton Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 709th, while the Indians are ranked 312th).
Bellefontaine's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Kenton Ridge, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
Everything came up roses for Bellefontaine against the Cougars when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 67-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bellefontaine since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
