Poth is 8-1 against Nixon-Smiley since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Poth is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Poth made easy work of Luling and carried off an 11-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Major Luna made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Poth got a big performance out of Walker Stevens, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lucas Trevino, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Poth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Luling only posted a batting average of .111.

Meanwhile, Nixon-Smiley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 9-0 to Karnes City.

Poth's victory bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Nixon-Smiley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Nixon-Smiley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Poth has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. It's a different story for Nixon-Smiley, though, as they've only averaged .319. Will they be able to contain Poth's hitters?

Poth took their win against Nixon-Smiley when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
