Basketball Recap: Whitwell Takes a Loss

Whitwell had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 8-23 to make it four. They came up short against the South Pittsburg Pirates, falling 64-43. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, with their most recent defeat being a 58-46 loss on February 5th.

Despite the loss, Whitwell still got an impressive performance from Tyson Brashears, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 20 points. Brashears continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jordan Powell was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 12 points.

As for South Pittsburg, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-7. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

South Pittsburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was William Hardrick out in front who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Hardrick posted three steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Goldsmith, who went 7-for-16 on his way to 16 points and five steals.

As of now, neither Whitwell nor South Pittsburg have any future games scheduled.
