Basketball Recap: Parrish Community Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Romana Lind and Jayna Bowen

Parrish Community lost against Lakewood Ranch back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Parrish Community Bulls fell 47-34 to the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Bulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Mustangs are ranked 186th).

Parrish Community's loss came despite strong showings from Jayna Bowen and Romana Lind. Bowen posted 15 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals, while Lind went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Parrish Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Parrish Community has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Lakewood Ranch, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing North Port the next time they take the court. Parrish Community will head out to face North Port at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Lakewood Ranch will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
