Basketball Game Preview: Smoky Hill Buffaloes vs. Overland Trailblazers

The Smoky Hill Buffaloes will face off against the Overland Trailblazers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Smoky Hill took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Grandview.

Meanwhile, everything went Overland's way against Cherokee Trail on Friday as Overland made off with a 72-47 victory. That looming 72-47 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trailblazers yet this season.

Smoky Hill better keep an eye on Siraaj Ali. He was instrumental in Overland's win, going 6 of 10 en route to 21 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Ali now owns an excellent 45.6% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Lambert, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Overland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Overland pushed their record up to 8-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points over those games. As for Smoky Hill, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Smoky Hill didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Overland in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 76-72 victory. Will Smoky Hill repeat their success, or does Overland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
