Basketball Recap: Aberdeen Central Takes a Loss

Aberdeen Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 67-48 bruising from the Brandon Valley Lynx on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Golden Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Lynx are ranked fifth).

Leading Brandon Valley to victory were Alyvia Padgett and Gracie Salter. Padgett went 8 of 17 on her way to 23 points, while Salter went 7 for 9 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. Padgett has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Kellenberger, who posted nine points.

Aberdeen Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Brandon Valley, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.

Aberdeen Central has already played their next matchup (against Pierre T.F. Riggs), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Brandon Valley will look to defend their home court on Friday against Yankton at 6:00 p.m. Brandon Valley is facing Yankton at the right time seeing as Yankton is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
