Baseball Recap: Gilbert Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Gilbert Classical Academy extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-12. They came up short against the Horizon Honors Eagles, falling 13-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 23-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

As for Horizon Honors, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

For Horizon Honors' part, Lucas Holweger was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Logan Walker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Gilbert Classical Academy will venture away from home to challenge Superior at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Horizon Honors, they will head out to take on Arizona Lutheran Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
