Softball Game Preview: Covington Chargers vs. Halls Tigers

The Covington Chargers will head out to challenge the Halls Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Covington is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Covington fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Dyersburg on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They lost 16-8 to the Trojans. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 13, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Madi Hamm made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Caroline Cole, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Halls duked it out with Munford on Tuesday. The Tigers took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Tigers have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Covington's record is now 8-10-1. As for Halls, their record now sits at 11-10.

Covington couldn't quite finish off Halls when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
