Baseball Game Preview: Alpine Bucks vs. Lamesa Tornadoes

For the second straight game, Alpine will face off against Lamesa. The Bucks will challenge the Tornadoes at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Alpine's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Lamesa's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Alpine heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lamesa. Considering the last time the Bucks couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

For Lamesa's part, Jonah Muniz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Muniz has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaak Flores, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Hector Zamora was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Lamesa is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Alpine, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.
