As the Nebraska high school girls basketball season prepares to hit the stretch run, we've crunched the numbers and determined which programs have made substantial climbs in our MaxPreps Nebraska Computer Rankings over a year ago.

Having improved its record by a remarkable eight games, Palmer came up the winner after climbing 111 rungs to 145th in MaxPreps' Nebraska rankings Tuesday. Brandon Rolf's Tigers, who turned in a 5-14 record a year ago, are off to a fast start this winter, having won 12 of their first 17 games.

With a Top 10-leading 11.5 game improvement over a year ago, Douglas County West jumped a second best 104 spots to 143rd. Gothenburg and Ainsworth rose 102 places each to tie for third. The Swedes, however, move into the No. 3 spot ahead of Ainsworth after improving their record by more games over a year ago than the Bulldogs.

Gothenburg improved its record by 7.5 games over 2018-19 to Ainsworth's six and a half game upgrade. The Swedes sit 95th in 2019-20 while Ainsworth is ranked 100th in the Cornhusker State to this point in the season. Wakefield/Allen rounds out the Top 5 after climbing 98 spots to 116th so far this winter.

Every school in this week's Top 10 improved its ranking by at least 79 spots over a year ago. Of this week's Top 10, No. 7 Beatrice is the highest ranked club at No. 15 after climbing 92 spots. No. 6 St. Paul is ranked 20th this week after climbing a sixth best 93 rungs.

Every classification in Nebraska is represented in this week's Top 10, except for Classes A and C2. North Platte earns the nod as Nebraska's most improved Class A school, having climbed 63 spots to 12th, while Class C2 leader Sutton improved 77 rungs to 47th.

As you browse through this week's Top 10, each school is listed on the top line along with the number of rungs it improved in Tuesday's rankings over its final 2018-19 ranking. Line two is reserved for last year's final MaxPreps Nebraska ranking and the school's final won-loss record in parenthesis while line three lists the school's Nebraska ranking from Tuesday and its record through Monday's action.
